Employer/Employee Notice of Unemployment Benefits for those affected by Covid19 crisis

Mar 18th, 2020

To all Clients/Employees of Clients:

We wanted to share some important information about the 'expanded unemployment benefits' to those affected by the COVID-19 crisis. This is important to all businesses and not just those with employees.

Here is a link from the Concord Monitor:

If you are an employer, and you have employees that are eligible for this benefit, your employer account will NOT be charged. This is the equivalent of the employee taking an extended leave of absence, so noone has to argue over whether an employee is quitting or you are firing them.

The benefits cover:

Individuals who are unable to work or who have reduced hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic will have immediate access to unemployment benefits. Anyone in the following situations will now be eligible for state unemployment: If your employer temporarily closes due to COVID-19; Individuals that need to self-quarantine or are directed to quarantine at the instruction of a health care provider, employer or government official; Individuals that need to care for a family member that has COVID-19 or is under quarantine; Individuals that need to care for a dependent because of school closures, child care facility closures or other similar types of care programs; Self-employed individuals that are temporarily unable to operate their business because of any of the above listed situations will also be eligible.

It also applies to all food service workers affected by the state's order to have restaurants and bars immediately move to take-out dining services only.

We have already had a number of our business clients indicate that they must temporarily close their doors due to a loss of business due to a direct loss from customers closing their programs/businesses because of the crisis. We believe these benefits extend to this as well.

You do not need to be an employer to be eligible for this.

Any resident interested in applying should go to www.nhes.nh.gov. Applicants can also apply by phone at 603-271-7700.

We will try to keep you informed as best we can during these trying times. In the meantime, don't forget to wash your hands. Please call our office at 603-434-2775 if we may be of further assistance.

Thank you,
